ACCRINGTON Stanley boss John Coleman is determined to make sure his side capitalise on their home games this season.

The Reds suffered in their UniBond Premier campaign last time out losing too many games at the Crown Ground.

They won this season's opener against Runcorn at home and now hope to follow this up with victory over Frickley Athletic on Bank Holiday Monday (ko 3pm).

"We need to make sure we perform at home, that is important this season," said the Reds boss who knows his side lost too many games against teams they were expected to beat last season, especially in Accrington.

However the additions of Mark Sertori and Barry Shuttleworth should stop them giving careless goals away in defence.

And with Mike Marsh and winger Dean Calcutt added to the fray, Coleman knows home wins could be all-important in the end-of-season count.

Calcutt, a £5,000 buy from Bradford Park Avenue, made his debut in last Tuesday's 2-1 win at Colwyn Bay and was hoping to start today at Marine.

"It was difficult for Dean to come into a game like the Colwyn Bay one," admitted Coleman.

"It was played so quickly and they came at us.

"We didn't really expect this. But he got 55 minutes and he will get better and more used to us."

Paul Mullin has so far been the star of the Stanley show with two goals in their first two games.

But it is his strike partner Lutel James, with 25 goals last season, who Coleman has so far been impressed with.

"Against Colwyn Bay, Lutel made the two goals out of nothing, both came from his crosses," said the Reds chief.

"For the second goal, he broke into the box and was unselfish as he could have shot himself but he passed to Simon Carden.

"Lutel looks sharper and more focused this season.

"He is a good lad, he is good in the dressing room and is a bit of a comedian.

"I have been pleased with the way he has started."

Former Liverpool midfielder Marsh was given a bit of a rest in training this week after playing most of the pre season games and the first two league matches - he was also set to start today.

"Mike suffered a little niggle in one of the matches but we gave him a rest this week as we want him to play as many games as possible."

Harrogate and Accrington were the pacesetters before today's games, both with two wins.

"Harrogate have come up and they have spent a few bob," added Coleman. "We saw with Vauxhall Motors last season that when teams have come up, they are used to winning and the novelty tends to carry them through their first season.

"But it will take around 10 games or so before the league starts sorting itself out and before we know who is going to be up there."

In the UniBond First Division, Chorley welcome Bishop Auckland to Victory Park while Rossendale are at home to Trafford (ko 3pm).

In the NWCL Division Two, Great Harwood make the trip to Maine Road (ko 7.45pm).
