RELATIVES travelled from Canada and Saudi Arabia to toast the 100th birthday of Nora Jefferson. Around 50 family and friends attended the bash at the Hazeldene Nursing Home in Wilpshire.
Nora has led an eventful life. She grew up in Cheshire and her first job was in Manchester as a shorthand typist. After World War One, her family moved to Canada when she was 18 and there she met her husband-to-be Fred.
They married in 1927 and their children, Joan, Jack and Laurie, were born in Canada. The family returned to Osbaldeston in the 1950s and bought the Bay Horse Garage.
The couple retired in 1959 and moved to Accrington where they stayed until 1976 when Fred died. Nora moved to Moorside Avenue in Intack before entering Hazeldene in 1996. Her children still live in Blackburn.
