THERE was to be no new club run record for Lowerhouse professional Jacques Rudolph.
The South African needed 170 to set a new standard but he made only 30 as his side fell to Enfield and the man who holds the record Martin Van Jaarsveld.
Chris Bleazard took five wickets and scored a half century but still ended up on the losing side as Enfield won at Lowerhouse.
The visitors made 208-9 in a match reduced to 44 overs with professional Martin Van Jaarsveld smashing 84. He shared a stand of 134 with Andy Barker (38) for the second wicket.
Bleazard, better known for his batting, collected 5-31 in an impressive spell.
In reply, Lowerhouse were never really in the hunt. At the halfway stage they were 60-1 with professional Jacques Rudolph having departed for 30 in his final innings for the club.
Stan Heaton (43) then shared a stand of 79 with Bleazard (63) but with 10 overs to go Lowerhouse were 111-1 needing almost nine an over for victory.
When Bleazard was caught by teenager Abid off Neil Holmes' bowling the home side's hopes went with him. At the close they were 20 runs adrift of the Enfield total despite having five wickets in hand.
Sub pro Rideegammanagedera and veteran spinner Ian Haworth combined to give East Lancs victory at Haslingden in a game reduced to 32 overs because of a delayed start.
Batting first the visitors made 146-5, with opener Andy Clague carrying his bat for an unbeaten 77, which included six fours and a six.
He shared a productive stand with Rideegammanagedera of 62 for the second wicket before the paid man went for 31.
In the run chase Haslingden progressed steadily to 71-2 with opener Graham Knowles making 38.
But Haworth and Rideegammanagedera took command and the Haslingden innings fell apart.
Rideegammanagedera took 4-54 and Haworth 5-27 as the home side were bowled out for 111.
In a 35-over game at Seedhill Rawtenstall romped to a 10-wicket win over Nelson.
Batting first the hosts were restricted to 124-6 with Nelson professional Joe Scuderi top scoring with 25. Rawtenstall veteran bowler Keith Roscoe took 4-31.
It was left to the handy Andrews - professional Hall (58 not out) and skipper Payne (50 not out) to see Rawtenstall to a convincing victory in just 22 overs.
Hall hit five fours and one six in his 62-ball knock, while Payne notched four fours in 67 deliveries.
Ramsbottom took the honours in a tight game at Todmorden.
Batting first Ramsbottom were given a great start by openers Nick Riley (58) and substitute professional Majid Saeed (55).
That set their side up for a challenging 149-5 from their 30 overs in another game reduced by the weather.
Paul Brierley top scored for Todmorden with 30 by the target always looked too tough.
Simon Read took 4-65 and Mark Price 2-44 as Todmorden finished on 139-7- 11 short of victory.
Bacup put themselves on the brink of a hat-trick of Transco Lancashire League titles as the prolific double act of David Ormerod and professional Shaun Young bowled them to a maximum-points victory over Church on Saturday.
Rain reduced the game to 43-overs-a-side but that was still long enough for the pair to dismiss Church for 104.
Ormerod picked up the first four wickets, including top-scorer Philip Sykes and stand-in professional Pervis Shah, and finished with 7-38 to take his tally for the season to 68 and within sight of last year's total of 79.
At the other end, Young went past 50 wickets for the summer as he claimed 3-66 as the visitors were bowled out inside the 32nd over.
Bacup gave away nothing in the field, not even conceding an extra, and were set on their way to victory by a 34-run opening stand between Dominic Ayres, who top-scored with 44, and Peter Thompson.
Nick Westwell caused them some discomfort and must have wished he had started out from the school end, which had brought Ormerod all his wickets on a difficult batting pitch.
Westwell claimed 5-15 in six overs from his second spell but by then Bacup were near enough the finishing line to complete a four-wicket win.
Rishton's home game against Colne and Burnley's visit to Accrington were both abandoned without a ball being bowled because of torrential lunch-time rain.
