POLICE have called in environmental health officials after entrails were found on a street in the Aberdare Close area Blackburn.
A 30-yard area of the street was cordoned off from 8.30pm on Friday until 10am on Saturday and the entrails were taken to hospital and examined by a pathologist, who said they were from an animal.
Inspector Stuart Whittle, force incident manager, said: "We suspect a dog has pulled a bag apart. We will be liaising with environmental health to find out where they came from and prevent it happening again. It's a health and safety hazard.
"If you get children in the area we don't want things like this spilling out on to the street."
