THE Asian community in Little Harwood has rallied behind the Magic Eye Appeal raising more than £3,000.
Children at Madressa Islamiyah and Islamiyah schools in Willow Street have collected mystery donations in envelopes totalling £1,000.
And adult worshippers from Masjid-E-Sajdeen mosque in Plane Tree Road have collected more than £2,000.
Iqbal Makda, representing the community, said: "We are very happy that we have been given this opportunity to support the appeal. It is a privilege to be part of the fundraising for such a good cause.
"This equipment we hope will be of benefit to the whole of East Lancashire regardless of which community you come from."
Platinum, Silver and Youth Award certificates were presented by Sheila Shaw, the appeal co-ordinator.
Sheila said: "The children raised money from their pocket money by following such a good example from the older members of the community. It is a wonderful contribution and we are very grateful."
The Lancashire Evening Telegraph Appeal hopes to raise £200,000 for a state-of-the-art scanner.
The ultrasound endoscopic equipment will benefit the whole of East Lancashire thanks to the quicker diagnosis of oesophagus and stomach cancer.
