SUPER uncle Walter Lee travelled to East Lancashire from Herefordshire to attend his niece's wedding --before dashing back home for the reception of another niece!
Former Blackburn man Walter, 55, made the journey to attend the ceremony when his niece Sarah Lee, formerly of the School House, Old Hall Lane, Pleasington, tied the knot.
Mr Lee, a motorcycle instructor, travelled the 160 miles from his home on Ross on Wye with his sons Liam, 18, and Thomas, 20, for the service at Pleasington Priory.
No sooner had Sarah and groom John Frost finished taking their vows at 2pm than Walter and his sons had to get back in their car to make the trip home for the reception of another niece, Hannah Lorenzelli, in Ross on Wye.
"Sarah is the only niece left on this side of the family not married," he said.
"I thought I would try to get to both of them. It's a big family,"
The day brought back memories for Walter who got married in the same church 33 years ago this year.
But he was not the furthest travelled on Sarah and John's big day among the 250 guests were people who had travelled from Tunisia, where the couple live and work for British Gas.
Others came from as far afield as Russia, Egypt, Zambia and Trinidad, and a bagpiper travelled from Oban in Scotland to play the couple out of church.
"It's wonderful, great to have all the family here," said Sarah.
As Walter sped home to his second wedding celebration of the day Sarah and John were enjoying their reception at the Dunkenhalgh Hotel before jetting off the the Maldives for their honeymoon.
