JONATHAN SMITH showed manager John Coleman that he has a massive part to play in Accrington Stanley's push for the Nationwide Conference as he scored a vital goal in the 3-0 win against Marine.
The massive centre half, a local lad and former Great Harwood player, was finding it difficult to get into Coleman's side this season despite some towering performances at the back over the past few years that have seen him become a firm favourite with the Crown Ground crowd.
His goal, a trademark header at the back post 11 minutes into the second half, was the Reds' second of the afternoon.
Midfielder Robbie Williams opened the scoring for Stanley, hitting a low powerful shot from 20 yards five minutes before the break.
Livewire forward Lutel James rounded off the afternoon's scoring with a goal from the penalty spot.
The win extends Stanley's unbeaten start to the season and sees them top the UniBond Premier table after three games.
