AFTER Ramsbottom Horticultural Society staged its biggest show of the year organisers fear the event could be one of their last.
The vegetable and flower show was held on Bank Holiday Monday (Aug 26). But a lack of a society secretary could mean the future of other shows is uncertain.
Mr Ronald Smith retired as secretary last year but because of a lack of volunteers for the post he has still been helping out.
He said: "We desperately need a show secretary otherwise there is as strong possibilty the society, which was founded in 1915, could fold."
Mr Smith has been a member of Ramsbottom Horticultural Society for eight years and held the post of secretary for six.
"This year, I want to stand down completely and need someone to take on the role which involves minuting meetings and sending correspondence.
"Anyone who can help should contact Mr Ray Chadwick on 01706 82 4610 or Mr Malcolm Roberts 01706 82 1923."
