GARETH Taylor will be out of the Clarets clash with Derby County a week on Saturday after being called up for the Wales squad to face Finland in Helsinki the same day.
The big striker has forced his way back into Mark Hughes' plans and appeared for the last 30 minutes in the recent friendly in Croatia.
That ended with a creditable 1-1 draw and Taylor now hopes to be involved in his country's opening European Championship qualifier.
However, there is still a possibility that the match may be called off if the Rams have three players called up for international duty.
Meanwhile, with the patched up first team in action last night it will again be a young Burnley reserves side that will travel down the M6 to take on Wolves tonight.
Reserves boss Ronnie Jepson has acknowledged that he must blood a number of the youth team players but will be hoping for a better showing from the senior youngsters at the club.
He was unhappy with the performances of Andrew Waine and Andrew Leeson, both given one year contracts in the summer, and he will be hoping that they can lead by example tonight.
In contrast to the Clarets, the Midlands side is likely to feature a number of experienced players who will be trying to impress Dave Jones and force their way into his first team plans.
The match at Wolves last season was arguably the reserves best display with Dimitri Papadopoulos netting a hat-trick in a 5-2 win.
A repeat would be a tall order but Jepson insisted: "It is not so much the results as the performances that matter.
"I was not happy with some of them last week and so I am hoping that we can improve on that."
