STUDENTS from a specially-created retail staff training centre in Blackburn shopping centre are earning plaudits from shop bosses.
The Retail Experience training centre, in Lord Square, has received several compliments about its trainees who have completed work experience placements. One, 24-year-old Habib Hussain, has already been told he has a job with Greenwoods menswear, where he spent a week, as soon as one becomes available. He impressed the management.
The training centre is sponsored by shopping centre owners Standard Life and runs courses on all aspects of retailing, including service skills, trading standards, payment methods and merchandising.
Mike Hannigan, retail investment director at Standard Life, said: "We were confident the trainees would be much sought after and feedback such as that on Habib reinforces our faith."
