I WRITE concerning Regent Park, I am disgusted by the way the park is being allowed to fall into a disgraceful state.
For example: the railings need painting, some parts are overgrown and full of rubbish, The children's play area is not safe.
The tennis courts are lethal as the nets are in disrepair and some have no nets.
The gates at the top of the park are kept locked all because a few kids rode their bikes around.
We adults are penalised by having the gates locked therefore not allowing us through the park to the shops.
The bowling greens are cut and looked after but there is no supervision, children play on the greens with no balls and damage the greens.
People pay money to play on those greens.
We are also losing revenue because visitors who come from all over the country to play are disgusted by the greens and lack of facilities.
We hear a lot of money is being spent on Happy Mount Park, I am not against that but the same amount should be spent on Regent Park.
A few suggestions to improve conditions: reinstate the park keeper, reopen the gates, returf the old tennis courts and let children play on them, remove rubbish and litter, regenerate the children's play area (one like on the promenade would be nice), revamp the old buildings and return all the people who love to play on these greens.
