CHILDREN in Salterforth are a step closer to getting an improved play area at their local park after a donation of £1,500 was handed over by the police.
The money, which was given to Barnoldswick police officers by the Lancashire Partnership Against Crime (LANPAC), was presented to the Salterforth Kids for Park Improvements group at Salterforth Park yesterday.
It will be used to help pay for new facilities at the park, including a special area for young cyclists.
Barnoldswick and Earby Sergeant Chris Saville said: "We applied for the cash because we are wholly supportive of the campaign to improve facilities at the park.
"Better facilities will enable the children to play in safety, away from the traffic and away from areas where they might cause concern for local residents. We are very grateful for the cash from LANPAC."
