A WARip session for this weekend's Lark in the Park is set to go off with a bang tonight in a fireworks and pyrotechnics show.
The event in Mercer Park, Clayton-le-Moors, will mark the end of the summer play scheme activities. It will also act as a taster for the carnival atmosphere that will take over the town on Saturday.
The line-up for the second annual Lark in the Park music event has now been confirmed and 12 different acts will take to the stage between 1pm and 7.15pm.
These include a samba band, a variety of DJs, local groups and a Kylie tribute act.
But before the music begins a carnival procession, which has been worked on all summer will take to the streets of the town with residents and youngsters in costumes designed by a team involved with the Notting Hill Carnival.
The procession will leave the park around 11.30am and return at 12.30 before the first live performance at 1pm.
Other activities available throughout the day will include a fairground, a miniature train, a 50ft climbing wall, face-painting and henna painting. There will also be a variety of entertainers, a dog show by the Hyndburn Stray Dogs Association and a Crown Green Bowling competition with cash prizes.
Entrants to both competitions must register before 1pm.
