THE hunt for a pervert who operates on the university cycle track is continuing after two incidents last week.
On Wednesday and Thursday, a man walked past a local woman and a student, then turned around behind them and began to make lewd and obscene comments, which left both women very distressed.
These follow four previous incidents in May and June, including a serious indecent assault, which police believe are connected.
The man is described as white, in his 30s or 40s, 5ft 9in tall, of medium build, with short, or shaven hair, which may have been receding.
He wore green clothing, possibly jogging or workman's clothes and had an overall appearance that was scruffy.
He spoke with a local accent.
Det Sgt Mark Salisbury said: "We would appeal for anyone who sees a person fitting this description, or behaving suspiciously, on the university cycle track, to contact us immediately.
"I want to emphasise that the cycle track is still a safe and well used way of getting from town to campus, and we hope to make progress in this case before the university term starts."
