POLICE in Ramsbottom have warned people to keep their sheds and garages secure after a rise in burglaries.
Thieves have been targeting sheds and garages between Holcombe Brook and Ramsbottom and stealing household tools and bicycles.
Inspector Stephen Clark said: "A £1,000 bike in a £100 shed is being protected by a £1 padlock. There are rich pickings available through little effort.
"Some people have been arrested in connection with such crimes but it has not been eradicated from this area.
"Police officers will be giving appropriate attention to that area during the night for the foreseeable future.
"I am asking the people of Ramsbottom to take action to reduce the opportunities.
"Naturally we will welcome any information on the identity of thieves."
A free booklet about how to reduce the potential of becoming a victim is available from Ramsbottom police station or can be ordered on 0161 856 8181.
