A CHARITY concert is being held in aide of Christopher Boyd, who is in Pendlebury Children's Hospital following a bone marrow transplant earlier this year.
Christopher, aged 16, was diagnosed with leukaemia almost a year ago and, having been ill since June, could have to stay in hospital for the rest of the year.
Despite his illness Christopher, of Laxey Crescent in Leigh, managed to achieve two GCSE's at St Mary's High School this summer.
Neighbour Mary Mills was touched by Christopher's case and has taken to fund-raising for him to go on holiday to visit family in Dubai when he is better.
She said: "He is a lovely lad. I only met him three weeks before organising a street party in June, but I just had to do something for him. He was so grateful and I think it really gave him a lift."
The concert starts at 7.30pm tomorrow (Friday) at Edna Road Labour Club in Leigh and will feature vocalists Lyndsey Leigh, AJ Cole and Pat Masterson. Entry is £3 and can be paid on the door.
The street party held in June raised £195 for Christopher and £78 for Wigan and Leigh Hospice.
