FIREBUGS are being hunted by police after four cars were set on fire in the south of the borough over the weekend.
Whitefield fire fighters dealt with all the burning vehicles between Saturday and the early hours of Monday (Aug 26).
The first involved a suspected stolen Metro which was set on fire on a dirt track near to Fusions nightclub in Warthfold Lane, Radcliffe, in the early hours of Saturday (Aug 24). The vehicle had been driven up and down the dirt track before being set alight.
At 9.20pm on Sunday (Aug 25) a Ford Escort XR3 parked in Simister Lane, Prestwich, was set on fire and at 1.45am on Monday, a Transit van parked in Unsworth Road, Radcliffe, was torched by arsonists.
The Escort and van were badly damaged.
At 5.40am another car was set alight, again near to Fusions nightclub. The vehicle was destroyed.
Police are investigating all four incidents.
