BAMBER Bridge were under pressure from the start as Rossendale created several chances, most of them falling to their centre-forward Gary Williams.
In the 32nd minute he was clear on goal when he was brought down by Lee Pryers just outside the box but fortunately for Brig the free kick came to nothing.
Rossendale looked the more likely team to score and it was not until just before half-time 40 when Bamber Bridge came into the match as they started to make use of the space down the left.
One of these runs presented Stuart Shepherd with a clear chance but Dale 'keeper Mark Andrews pulled off a fine save.
Bamber Bridge started the second half much better and on two occasions Stewart Clitheroe put David Sutch clean through on goal but both chances were missed.
They were made to pay for squandering these opportunities when in the 77th minute Gary Williams hit a hard, low shot past Sharrock to put the visitors 1-0 ahead.
Sadly there was to be no way back for Brig. The men of the match were Simon Woodward and Gary Williams.
All the Bamber Bridge players wore black armbands for the match in memory of John Thompson (son of former PNE player Ricky Thompson).
Brig had better luck on Monday beating Eastwood Town 1-0 with a goal from Lee Pryers.
