TINY tots waved goodbye to their favourite teachers at the closing party of North Valley Day Nursery in Colne.
News of the of the closure came out of the blue in November last year when the County Council decided to shut five pre-schools including North Valley Road, Colne, which provided care for children from disadvantaged backgrounds.
The money saved from their closure will be used to create family support centres, which will work with disadvantaged families and provide help for youngsters until they are 18.
It is hoped the new support will reduce the number of children needing to go into care by tackling problems before they get out of hand.
A spokesperson for North Valley Day Nursery said: "The closing party was a very sad day for everybody but we have know about the closure for quite a while so we prepared for it. Past and present pupils, parents, staff, clients and various agencies who were involved with the nursery came to the party to say goodbye to the nursery and to one another."
