THE annual New Longton Flower Show will be held on Saturday, August 31, at the New Longton Village Hall, Boundary Close.
Along with the exhibits there will be refreshments on sale, a produce stall, raffle and tombola, and an auction.
Schedules for the show can be picked up from the New Longton shops or can be obtained from 614264.
Entries to the show will be received at the Village Hall on Friday, August 30, from 6-8pm, and Saturday, August 31, from 9.15-10.30am.
TOP acts to play at club. Two top acts have been booked at the Lostock Hall Labour Club, Watkin Lane.
Lee Nelson, voted best male vocalist 2001 by the Preston and District Concert Secretaries Federation, and Chris Young, voted top comedy/vocalist by the Federation.
Councillor David Pownall, South Ribble Mayor, is hosting the event, on Friday, August 30.
The entertainment kicks off at 7.30pm, and includes bingo and a pie and peas supper.

PRESTON Movie Makers and Preston Photographic Society are holding their first meeting of the season on Thursday, September 5. At 7.45pm the Movie Makers are holding their opening night at Galloway Hall, Fulwood. Call 614555 for details. THE Hutton local history and history society will be hosting a talk entitled Arthur Devis -- Preston painter to the Jacobites, his Lancashire patrons buy Stephen Sartin.
The talk starts at 7.30pm at Hutton Village Hall on Tuesday, September 3.
THE Cotton City Jazz Band are playing as part of the Feast of Jazz calendar on Sunday, September 1, at 8pm, at the Preston Grasshoppers Rugby Club, Lightfoot Lane, Preston. Tickets are £4 on the door. For information ring 712861.
AN evening of humorous verse by Jacky Hayes is being hosted by the Preston Poets on Thursday, September 5, from 7.30pm at St Wilfrid's Community Centre, Chapel Street, Preston. For information call 433674.
THE Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra will be performing works by Mendelssohn, Mozart, Dvorak and Suk at the Preston Guild Hall.
