POLICE are appealing for the public's help in catching thieves suspected of stealing vintage stone flags.
Officers say there have been a spate of incidents in Rishton involving the popular traditional slabs.
During one incident four flags were removed from the ground in front of a lock-up garage in Holt Street.
The three-feet square slabs were taken between 9.30am and 8.10pm last Saturday. Between 10pm on Tuesday and 7.45am on Wednesday thieves removed six large flagstones from the back yard of a house on Parker Street but did not take them.
Officers believe the thieves were disturbed during another incident at 9.50pm on Monday when they lifted 11 stone flags out of the pavement on Tottleworth Road.
A spokesman said a white, G-registered Vauxhall Nova seen in the area could be involved. Two white men in their 20s were also seen, one wearing a baseball cap.
Anyone with any information is asked to contact Great Harwood Police on 01254 353334.
