A WOMAN who rescued five tiny puppies from being put down after they were buried alive has made a further appeal to house three more.
Freda Khan found the other cross-breed pups after she learned that some children had taken them before she knew how many there were.
Her 15-year-old son Murad saw the children playing with them in the street and took them back home.
Freda, of Thornton Close, Blackburn, said: "They had just been dipping in and taking them. They hadn't told their parents."
Her son Murad discovered the puppies inside a cardboard box partially buried in a field in Highercroft off Lytham Road, Blackburn, nearly three weeks ago.
The discovery sparked outrage and a number of calls from concerned people, and although the first four have been found homes the others have yet to do so.
When Freda first got them they had not even opened their eyes, now she said they can see and are getting into all sorts of mischief with their brothers and sisters .
"They're like little balls of fur, running around all the time and play-fighting each other".
She said that although she could never send them away to the dog warden because they might be put down, it was becoming increasingly difficult to feed them all.
"They're on solids now and just keep eating and eating. They have a look of a St Bernard. I call them little Beethovens and, like the dog in the film, they're getting bigger.
"They're really no trouble now they are toddling around, it's just getting very expensive. I need some help really because I can't afford to keep the rest, especially as they're getting older and eating more.
"The four who have been found homes are going in two weeks and it would be nice if the others also had loving homes to go to."
Anyone is interested in giving them a home should call The Lancashire Evening Telegraph on 01254 678678 and leave their name and phone number with switchboard.
