ONE thing is certain, correspondence from Victor Hagan (Your Letters, August 20) will be something of a ramble, and always with the same ending.
We might have hoped that now he has been elevated to information officer for Liberal Democrats in East Ward, coherent reasoning based on facts would be evident. No such luck!
Has Victor read the documents concerning the future of all elderly people's services in Bury? No!
Has he attended recent meetings of the council's executive committee or scrutiny panel to discuss the issues? No!
Has he read the Social Service Inspectorate report for Bury? No!
Has he read the district auditor's management letter and its comments on the need to re-configure services? No!
And yet he pretends to speak with authority.
Sorry, but I am afraid this is just another example of someone jumping on a populist bandwagon with no regard to the facts, and no real concern for the future.
JOHN BYRNE,
Labour councillor,
East Ward.
