SHAKERS boss Andy Preece was disappointed with the number of supporters that attended the York match.

A crowd of 3,294 contained 678 travelling fans from Yorkshire and the manager knows his hopes of keeping hold of loan signings and short term contract players will be diminished if gates don't improve.

"The more we get through the gate the better chance we have of keeping the Pawel Abbotts, Terry Dunfields and Colin Woodthorpes, all players who are making a big difference to the team.

"People say if we had a winning team playing attractive football they would come back to games but we have yet to see the evidence. Hopefully we will get an improvement against Stoke tonight.

"We are doing our job on the field and there are a lot of people behind the scenes working hard to keep the club alive.

"We have a lovely stadium, a great pitch, we're playing great football and scoring goals, it's time people in Bury got off their backsides and came down to see us, I'm sure they'd be impressed."
