RECYCLING will be made easy with a pilot scheme which being launched in the deprived areas of Pendle.
More than 8,000 homes in Bradley, Walverden, Whitefield and Brierfield wards are to be targeted.
The aims is to encourage greater recycling of waste such as cans and plastic bottles to help the environment.
Householders in designated areas will be given blue bags for plastic bottles and pink bags for mixed cans.
The council will collect bags weekly -- at no charge to the householder.
Taxpayers will not foot the bill as it is being financed by £96,000 Government grant.
The scheme will kick off on Monday, October 7.
Denise Bell, the council's recycling officer, said: "Our recent Best Value review highlighted that the Council needed to do more to encourage recycling amongst residents in the four deprived wards of the Borough. This is the first of a number of steps that the council is taking to respond to this issue."
A leaflet explaining the scheme is due to be delivered to each property in the four wards in the coming weeks.
