WITH replays having been scrapped in the Worthington Cup the goalkeepers on both sides tonight know they could easily be thrust into the spotlight.
If it should be all square after extra time, the tie will be decided on penalties and both Burnley's Marlon Beresford, pictured below, and Blackpool's Phil Barnes have been in good form this season.
Having been handed the keeper's jersey at Derby at the weekend, Beresford will be hoping to confirm his status as first choice at Burnley tonight and if he is called on to save penalties, Clarets fans have every reason to be confident.
The 33-year-old made a habit of stopping spot-kicks throughout his first spell at Burnley, he made a vital stop from the spot against Watford when he came back on loan last season and more recently saved twice in a penalty shoot-out against Wrexham in the Isle of Man.
He began the season well for York City and having returned to Turf Moor on a month long deal last week he helped Burnley to their first win of the season at the weekend.
As for Blackpool, their keeper Barnes has been in fine form this season and is chasing a club record sixth successive clean sheet.
Having conceded two goals in both of the opening two games of the season he has not been beaten since as his side has climbed to sixth in the second division.
Last season Barnes lost his spot to James Pullen, signed on loan from Ipswich Town, but he is number one again and clearly determined to keep the shirt.
