A BLACKBURN pub has opened an hour early to serve its customers breakfasts, teas and coffee.
JD Wetherspoon's Postal Order, on Darwen Street, is now open at 10am in an attempt to take on the town's cafes and takeaway chains.
Beer will not be served until 11am although manager Amanda Johnson said they were hoping to get a licence.
The pub opened early two weeks ago and was one of the first 610 Wetherspoon pubs to open at the new time.
The pub is serving full breakfasts with vegetarian alternatives, toast and preserves, breakfast baps, teas and coffee.
They are also offering free coffee with every full breakfast bought for the first few weeks.
Amanda Johnson, manager, said: "We've had a few people coming in already, and if it takes off we will have to employ more staff.
"We hope it will be successful and we also hope to get a licence to serve beer, so our customers can have a beer with their breakfast."
The new opening time will be matched by every Wetherspoon pub in the country on September 24.
