RADCLIFFE Cricket Club just missed out in their bid to lift the Central Lancashire League title at the weekend.
They were pipped at the post by Littleborough, who were crowned champions on the strength of having more wins than the Racecourse men.
The two teams went into the weekend's double header joint top on the same number of points and that's how it finished as Saturday's games were washed out and neither Littleborough or Radcliffe managed to bowl their opponents out on Sunday.
Meanwhile, in the Bolton Association, Walshaw remain on course for their fourth successive title after looking like they had blown it on Saturday night.
Going into the weekend 13 points clear of second placed Spring View with three to play, Walshaw fell victim to the shock result of the season, going down to second bottom Edgworth, while victory for Spring View left the Wigan side three points clear.
But it was all change on Sunday when View suffered a surprising six-wicket defeat at lowly Lostock while Walshaw heaved a huge sigh of relief after coasting to victory over one of the top teams Astley and Tyldesley.
