DAVID Gudgeon, 45, of Fairhope Court, Blackburn, was remanded on bail until September 20 by Blackburn magistrates charged with four offences of obtaining a pecuniary advantage by deception.
All the offences, which Gudgeon denies, relate to opening credit betting accounts and placing bets. One of the bets was a £10,000 wager placed with William Hill in August 2000.
The magistrates had previously directed that the case should be heard at Preston Crown Court but Daniel King, defending, said he wished to argue that there is insufficient evidence to commit the case. His argument will be heard by a district judge.
