WHILE all eyes will be on the eagerly anticipated shoot-out between Cole and Yorke and Hasselbaink and Gudjohnsen tonight, watch out for a potentially intriguing battle between David Dunn and Frank Lampard in midfield.

Both men are currently rivals for a place in Sven Goran Eriksson's England squad for the forthcoming European Championship qualifying campaign.

And tonight's contest, which may pitch them in direct opposition to each other in the centre of midfield, could be a decent indicator as to who should be ahead of who in the queue.

Lampard is currently the more experienced of the two with seven full caps to his name having no doubt profited from the fact he plys his trade with a fashionable London club who gain more exposure in the national Press than a side like Rovers.

But Dunn must surely be ahead of him in the current pecking order after he was called up for England's recently friendly with Portugal whilst his Chelsea rival was left out in the cold.

Lampard made a reasonable impression without exactly setting the world alight during his debut season at Stamford Bridge last term, scoring five times in 37 appearances.

He was outgunned by Dunn in the goalscoring stakes, however, who bagged an impressive seven goals in 29 games - including a brilliant brace against the champions - during his first full season in the top-flight.
