TWO masked robbers armed with a sledgehammer and a shotgun attempted to raid Sandy Lane Post Office in Prestwich.
They threatened staff and smashed a security screen at 11.50am yesterday before escaping empty-handed in a red K-registered Ford Orion, which had been stolen from Bury Metrolink station on Monday.
It was later found abandoned in Kersal Close, Prestwich.
Staff were left shaken but unhurt.
