THE first person to sign up for the Magic Eye sponsored walk said she "did it for her mum".
Claire Bolton, of Thorncliffe Drive, Darwen, signed up the day after it was advertised in the Lancashire Evening Telegraph for the ten-mile walk because she wants to raise money to help cancer sufferers.
The Magic Eye Appeal aims to raise £200,000 for a state-of-the-art ultrasound endoscopic scanner.
It will benefit the whole of East Lancashire thanks to the quicker and less traumatic diagnosis of stomach and oesophagus cancer.
Claire will complete the Blackburn walk that sets off from Blackburn College on Sunday, October 13, with her 23-year-old sister Tracy.
The walk lasts from 9am to 10.30am.
It is accompanied by a shorter junior event and other senior ten-mile walks in Hyndburn, Clitheroe, Nelson and Burnley.
Claire, 25, said: "My mum, Joyce, has been suffering with cancer for quite a while and she has spent time in hospital.
"I want to help raise as much money as I can for the Magic Eye so it will help people with this disease.
"I work at British Telecom in Blackburn and so I think I can raise quite a bit."
Entry is free and sponsorship forms can be obtained by visiting the newspaper's website www.thisislancasire.co.uk.
