I RECENTLY organised 'An Auction of Promises' at Mytton Fold Hotel, Langho, to raise funds for St Leonard's Church, Langho.
For many weeks beforehand, I had been cajoling parishioners and friends to 'make a promise' and to buy a ticket for the event.
We began the evening with a chicken and chips supper. Then I auctioned the many varied 'promises.' There was much laughter at some of them -- one was to babysit, but you must be home before sunrise!
But bidding was brisk and at the end of the auction I was delighted that we had made £2,050 for Church Funds.
