DEVASTATED Leigh skipper Adam Bristow is coming to terms with the fact that his season may be over.

As the Centurions head into their biggest games of the year, the influential Aussie has been slapped with a two game ban.

If Leigh beat Huddersfield in the NFP Preliminary Semi-Final at the McAlpine on September 22, Bristow will also miss out on the Grand Final. His only chance of making the Grand Final is if Leigh lose at Huddersfield and then win their Major Semi-Final.

Two charges

The loose-forward was before the RL judiciary in Leeds on Tuesday night to answer two charges of reckless high tackles. He was given a sending off sufficient verdict following his red card against Swinton but was found guilty of after being put on report at Hull KR last week.

"Adam's totally devastated by the verdict," admitted coach Paul Terzis. "We are weighing up the option of an appeal, but that's a gamble we might not take."

Terzis there will be no chance of Leigh taking the Huddersfield game lightly in order to make sure they have Bristow available for a possible Grand Final.

"Adam has told the players that they must go flat out to reach the final by the quickest possible route and then go on and win the final for him. It's typical of the lad that he should be thinking of the club rather than himself at this terrible time.

"He's in a bit of daze at the moment. It's hit him really hard. The realisation that he will miss the biggest games of the season is only just starting to sink in.

"Just over a week ago he had an unblemished record. Now he's going to miss out because of one instinctive challenge. It's so sad."

Terzis must now re-think his semi-final plans with prop Vila Matautia also facing a ban when he faces the judiciary next Tuesday after being red-carded for striking at Dewsbury last Sunday.

"Of course we'll miss Adam and possibly Vila, but it gives others an opportunity to make a name for themselves. We won't let the off-field situation affect our performance on it."

The Centurions are now taking coach bookings for the NFP Play Off at Huddersfield. Bookings can be made in the club shop or via the telephone. The number is 01942 743743. The cost of travel is £5 and £3.50 with coaches leaving at 1pm.
