A LADIES Night organised by Hapton's Environment Committee was a huge success and raised over £300 which will go towards the £1,500 needed for refurbishment and car parking facilities at the recreation ground.
Ladies of all ages enjoyed the entertainment and the event was well attended. The committee offered a vote of thanks to Mark, of the Winchester Club, where the event was held.
After the huge success of the night further events are being planned.
THURSDAY nights see the Bridge Club meetings at Knight Hill House, Padiham at 7pm.
PADIHAM children have gone fishing and walked off with prizes. Lee Pearson has gained five trophies. He fishes with the Potterton Myson Club in the junior angler section after school and at weekends. He will shortly be competing in the junior nationals on the Sankey Canal against children from around Britain.
Lee's schoolfriends Karl Kostilek and Andrew Whittaker have also joined him in the Burnley and Pendle Junior Fishing League competitions and have won prizes.
All three boys are year nine pupils at Gawthorpe High School.
MORE sporting children at Hapton. In the finals of the junior bowling competition, Jordan Brennan took the cup and a bowling bag by beatig James Craven. Ben Murray was third prize and Paul Murray fourth.
