VOLUNTEERS are needed to meet the growing demands on a service which helps women who are concerned about their own or someone else's drinking.
The Willow Project, backed by the Community Fund, offers free and confidential support, information and therapy either on a one-to-one basis or with others experiencing similar problems.
Willow is pleased to be expanding the project and reaching more women across the borough, however for this to be successful they are looking for women with a few hours a month to spare to provide assistance at the drop-in's at Leigh and Wigan.
"As we develop we are able to offer some exciting opportunities to our volunteers," explained a Willow worker.
"Recently one of our volunteers was trained by the National Alcohol Detoxification Association in Auricular Acupuncture and we are now able to offer this therapy to those women using our services."
Other Volunteering opportunities include reception duties, publicity distribution, advocacy support and administrative tasks. In return Willow will offer women the chance to learn new skills, provide support and expenses.
Volunteers or those wanting information on the service should telephone 01942 679300 on Wednesday (4.30pm-7.30pm), Thursdays (1.00pm-8.00pm) or Friday (1pm-4pm) or write to the Willow Project, PO Box 8, Leigh WN7 1FB.
