MORECAMBE shot up to fifth in the table with an excellent 4-0 victory over a Forest Green team which won't have impressed new manager, Colin Addison.

The lively Stewart Drummond was always driving the Shrimps forward, and could have put his side ahead early in the game.

However, it was Lee Elam who carved out the first goal of the game on 23 minutes.

The tricky winger tapped the ball through to Curtis who finished magnificently, lifting the ball over the on-rushing keeper, Steve Perrin.

Elam, whose pace troubled the Forest Green back four all afternoon, got his name on the score sheet shortly before the break when the visitor's defence failed to cope with a hanging cross from Adriano Rigoglioso and one of the smallest players on the pitch was left to turn home a free header.

Curtis, now one of the conference's leading scorers, made it 3-0 with another well taken goal on 53 minutes, as the Forest Green defence struggled to cope with Morecambe's pace a guile up front.

Although Forest Green threatened to hit back after the break, with veteran striker Neil Grayson going close, the Shrimps rarely looked under serious threat, with the defence holding up just as well as the busy attack.

Drummond, again inspirational in the centre of midfield, finished the scoring off on 81 minutes when he sent a towering header from another Elam corner flying into the net.

As well as sending Curtis up the scoring charts, the result leaves Morecambe with a defensive record, which is second only to Chester' s.
