POLICE in Haslingden and Rawtenstall are urging local residents to get their mobile phones security marked. And, in order to encourage people to take their crime prevention advice, officers are holding a number of free phone marking sessions.
One such session is taking place today from 11am to 2pm and from 4pm to 6pm at Asda, Rawtenstall.
Community Beat Manager PC Gordon McGeechan has arranged the free phone marking.
He said: "We are staging a crackdown on mobile phone theft as part of the Safer Streets in Lancashire campaign.
"As part of that crackdown, we are encouraging people to take more care of their phones and, in particular, to get them security marked. This helps us to trace the owners more easily if the worst comes to the worst and a phone is stolen.
"We are also taking tough action against mobile phone thieves, making more
arrests and securing quicker convictions."
He concluded: "For anyone passing Asda today, we are there, so drop in and get your phone security marked. It's quick, it's free and it's a great way to secure your property."
