PRIMARY pupils were upset to discover vandals had cruelly sabotaged their garden.

Vandals entered the premises of Leigh Central Primary School and set fire to rubbish bins, trellises and flower beds planted by the pupils only three years ago.

The plants and trellises formed part of an outdoor garden, which had been created using funds raised by the school. About £300 worth of damage was caused.

Jenny Haunch, acting head teacher at the Windermere Road school, is appealing for information: "It is stupid, moronic behaviour and very unfair on the children. I would appreciate any witnesses or anyone with any information to contact the school on 01942 673810."
