A SNAKE which made its home in the loft of a Leigh house has been captured.
The rat snake, a constrictor, which was spotted vanishing under the eaves of the semi-detached property in Hulme Road, newly occupied by government employee Stephanie Marsh, and neighbour Lisa Dowling, was removed on Friday after five days of horror for the families.
Now Wigan Council's environmental officers, who used a heat lamp and bait to draw out the five feet long reptile, have hit out at irresponsible owners.
A council spokesman said: "This entire episode could have been avoided if the thoughtless people had found a proper way of disposing of the snake, which will now be rehomed with the help of the RSPCA
"The incident has caused an incredible amount of unnecessary distress."
