LITTER louts are being chased out of Atherton by the Deputy Mayor and a clean-up army.
Hesketh Fletcher High School has agreed to host a "Litter Free Atherton" day on September 21 which will be launched by Cllr Wilf Brogan.
In the morning, groups of volunteers will clean up litter hotspots throughout Atherton and later environmental and educational stands will be displayed -- with food and other entertainment laid on -- as townsfolk beat out the tidy message
Volunteers will come from local schools, local community groups, churches, organisations, the Mersey Basin Campaign (which looks after some of the waterways in Atherton), councillors and local government officers.
Local businesses are encouraged to get involved in helping make Atherton a place of which to be proud of, by keeping premises clean and tidy.
A Tidy Business Standard scheme is available entirely free of charge.
