EVERYONE must have called at a supermarket only to find they're stumped for a £1 coin for the shopping trolley.
Well Hindley Green businessman Mark Reddy has stepped in with an idea which should make those shopping day blues a thing of the past -- a key ring coin substitute which will free trolleys and boost Wigan and Leigh Hospice funds into the bargain.
The coin keyring has been designed by DANUK, a Hindley Green company run by Mark, his wife Samantha and brother-in-law Jance Reilly.
Instead of fumbling for a pound the keyring with Union flag coin emblem coin simply pops into your shopping trolley slot without any hassle. Jance spent years working in Denmark where the system is widely used and decided the idea might catch on over here.
Mark, formerly of Golborne, explained: "My mum died in the Hospice when she was only 45. I have always supported Wigan and Leigh Hospice so I decided it would be a good idea to sell the keyrings for that charity.
"They are on sale in Hospice charity shops in Leigh, Golborne and Atherton and are selling like hot cakes at other outlets in the borough."
And Hospice fund-raising organiser Brian Halliwell is delighted with DANUK's gesture: "It's a brilliant idea and we are grateful for the support."
