POLICE are hunting a man who tried to lure a teenage girl into his car as she made her way to school.
Detective constable Ian Geogarty said the man -- described as Asian and in his 20s -- stopped the early morning traffic as he pulled his black BMW over and tried to entice the 15-year-old in.
The girl, who was wearing her school uniform, refused and ran back home. The incident happened at the junction of Bennington Street and Hareden Brook Close, Blackburn, on Monday, just after 7.30am, although details were only released today.
DC Geogarty said: "We are very concerned about this incident and are urging any witnesses to come forward. This man stopped the traffic with his vehicle, causing quite a blockage and leading to other motorists beeping their horns at him. Hopefully, other drivers will remember that and can come forward."
DC Geogarty said the girl was shaken up although was unharmed. The man was described as having short black hair and a black moustache.
DC Geogarty said it was important this man was caught before he could attempt a similar offence.
If anybody has any information they should contact Blackburn CID on 01254 353569 or Crime Stoppers on 0800 555 111.
