RUMOURS that a company behind plans for a £500,000 multi-sports centre in Radcliffe had gone into liquidation have been hit for six.
Peter Lever, director of Rochdale-based Club Design Ltd, said: "There is no truth in this at all. The only change is that we have become a limited company."
Club Design Ltd was asked to produce plans for the sports centre by Radcliffe Cricket Club.
The club wants to sell its Racecourse ground for housing because it cannot afford the £220,000 needed to bring it up to modern day standards. However, permission to sell and permission to build would first need to be obtained from Bury Council.
The sports centre would cater not only for Radcliffe Cricket Club but diversify into other areas such as rounders, tennis and bowling with state of the art changing facilities.
Cams Lane running track has been identified by the club as the perfect location. It is owned by Bury Council and stewarded by Radcliffe High School.
