A RETIRED litigation lawyer has died after suffering a heart attack at his Hawkshaw home.
Father-of-five David Teasdale, of Quarlton Drive, died on Saturday (Sept 7) after returning from a jog.
The 59-year-old is survived by his wife, Helen, five children and two grandchildren.
Members of Bury and Manchester's legal profession are expected to join friends and family at his funeral on Monday (Sept 16).
Born and bred in Stoke-on-Trent, Mr Teasdale graduated with a law degree from Manchester University and served his articles (trained) at a Bury firm of solicitors.
He then joined John Crompton and Company Solicitors in Manchester city centre where he enjoyed a long career until his retirement five years ago. Mr Teasdale acted on behalf of insurance companies.
Mrs Teasdale said: "David decided to leave the rat race in 1997 and retire. He wanted to have plenty of time to enjoy life. At least he had a great last five years.
"He was a very intelligent man and very well respected by the legal profession. He was well known throughout Bury and Manchester."
Mr Teasdale was a keen fell walker and loved classical music. He was also an accomplished pianist.
A friend and former colleague, Mr David Marsden from John Crompton and Co solicitors paid tribute to Mr Teasdale. He said: "David was a wonderful chap, an excellent lawyer who was very hard working. He was a popular and respected member of the practice. We are shocked by his death."
A funeral service will be held at Overdale Crematorium, Bolton, on Monday at 2.30pm followed by cremation.
