PNE put last week's defeat behind them to put in a great effort in the WFA Cup thanks to a scintillating performance by Fiona Dransfield on her debut, writes Karen Browne.
The team looked up for it from the start and Dransfield hit the post on three minutes before making a brilliant solo dribble to beat three defenders and the keeper to coolly slot the ball home.
Sarah Parker went close three minutes later, connecting well on a cross but headed narrowly over.
Bradford equalised on 20 minutes against the run of play, with a curling shot into the top corner. PNE then produced some good passing football and created several chances, without finding the net.
Sarah Berry came closest with a shot on 33 minutes well saved by the keeper.
Bradford then came back into the game but did not threaten a solid defence.
Dransfield scored again to take the lead on 41 minutes when after picking up the ball on 35 yards from an Alison Tabener pass she ran on to beat the keeper from the edge of the box. Amanda Cummings nearly made it 3-1 on 43minutes, but couldn't get a strong enough contact when connecting with a cross.
Sarah Parker had a chance on the edge of the box on 56 minutes, but her shot just went wide.
The game then turned into a tight midfield battle although Dransfield came close again with a curling shot.
As PNE began to tire they finally conceded a goal on 85 minutes with a strong header giving the keeper no chance.
PNE will travel to either Gateshead or Penrith in the next round.
On Sunday PNE are at home (at Bamber Bridge FC) to Accrington Stanley in the Lancashire WFA Cup.
