YOUNGSTERS have been able to enjoy a fun-packed and safe September holiday, thanks to a new play scheme.
Children aged between eight and 11 were invited to take part in Elev8:), a new initiative which provides a supervised environment for youngsters to learn new skills and take part in sporting and creative arts activities during the school break.
The scheme is a partnership between Pendle Leisure Trust, the New Opportunities Fund and Kinderquest and was organised to give parents peace of mind.
Dave Moreton, Grant Funding Manager for Pendle Leisure Trust, said: "There is an abundant need for high quality, cost effective childcare provision during the school holidays in this area.
"We have secured funding to enable Pendle Leisure Trust to provide a scheme which guarantees a safe, fun environment for eight to 11 year olds between 8.30am and 5.30pm, enabling parents to work without the worry of how their children are faring."
The first Elev8:) playscheme ran from last Monday until today with the second sessions being staged from Monday to Friday next week.
The programme of events is based at Pendle Leisure Centre, Colne, and Colne Municipal Hall.
Breakfast is provided at 8.30am at Pendle Leisure Centre, followed by the morning session involving sporting activities and games.
The afternoon session takes place at Colne Municipal Hall and features drama, art and musical activities.
Individual morning and afternoon sessions can be booked at a cost of £4, a full day costs £8, and a week ticket is £30 per child.
