DARWEN boss Steve Wilkes is going into tomorrow's clash at NWCL Division Two whipping boys Oldham Town with some trepidation.
Oldham had 17 goals put past them in the FA Cup by Stocksbridge and then Nelson hit seven midweek in the league.
Now Darwen, with seven goals in their last two games, are expected to follow suit - and Wilkes knows this is pressure.
"We know we should win this one and score plenty of goals but football doesn't always work this way. We drew with them twice last season and it is a tricky fixture."
Darwen are playing catch-up after losing their opening four games but have won the last two.
"You do get disheartened after four losses and wonder what you can do but I would never walk away."
Wilkes changed things round after a 3-0 loss to Colne, bringing in central midfielder Lee Webb, who has been suffering with a niggling injury for six months, right back Andy Bright and Gary Woods - and they have all proved a hit.
"With Lee and Scott Grundy in centre midfield, I have two players who will tackle, have good experience and can get a few goals.
"Andy clears the ball like defenders should, gets his tackles in and he does what I ask him.
"And Gary was the 15th man for the first four games, I brought him in and he has scored two goals. What more can you ask?
"We have scored seven and haven't conceded a goal in the last two games. Life is sweeter but you just never know with football."
