RIVAL bosses Kevin Keegan and Graeme Souness have promised goals in abundance at Maine Road tomorrow.

And judging by the amount of attacking talent on display, it's easy to see why.

When Keegan launched his search for a striker last May, he was linked with a move for his former Newcastle protege Andy Cole, pictured right.

But he then promptly shocked the football world when he unveiled Nicolas Anelka, pictured left, as the club's new £12 million record signing a few weeks later.

Despite his tender years, the French international has already had what can only be described as a chequered career.

After Arsene Wenger catapulted him to stardom, he helped Arsenal to the double in 1998.

But he then left Highbury under a cloud after his brothers brokered a deal with Real Madrid.

Since then he has ended up at Maine Road via stints at Paris St Germain and Liverpool, where he impressed during a loan spell last season.

And he goes into tomorrow's game brimming with confidence after scoring four goals in his last two outings.

Cole, in contrast, is currently looking for his first goal of the new campaign after making a stuttering start with Rovers.

He finished last season in red-hot form, bagging 13 times in just 20 appearances.

But his much-vaunted partnership with Dwight Yorke has yet to catch fire since they were reunited again in the summer.

Ominously, however, he's enjoyed a fair amount of success against City in the past.
