A SPONSORED pool tournament has been organised to help send a two-year-old cerebral palsy sufferer for pioneering treatment in Hungary.
The event is in aid of little Nicki James who is three at the end of the month to send him to the Peto Institute in Hungary, which is one of the biggest and best centres in the world for cerebral palsy.
His family planed to fly out at the end of August but were later requested to send his hospital notes to Hungary before they could go.
They are now hoping he will be able to go at the end of October.
Mum, Kirsty Shepherd, 22, of Quaker's View, Brierfield, said the fundraising was going really well and they have already raised about £6,000.
"We received a letter from the Peto Institute which said as soon as they receive Nicki-James' hospital notes they will forward us a date, which we are hoping will be at the end of October.
"The fundraising is continuing all the time. The metabolic therapy which will help his development through natural substances is £1,500 a course. His special shoes are £100 a pair and the list goes on.
"We want to keep fund raising for the Lee Sykes National Centre in Liverpool who look after children with Cerebral Palsy."
Penyard Publishing Ltd, Burnley, Image Works, Nelson and Riley's, Burnley have all sponsored the event.
There are currently around 40 competitors taking part but they need another 60 people.
The pool tournament is being held at Riley's American Pool and Snooker Centre in Hargreaves Street, Burnley, on Tuesday, September 17 at 7.30pm.
It is £5 to enter the competition and the winner receives £80 and a cup.
